Project client: Light Regional Council
Project background: Neil Avenue is located on the western outskirts of Nuriootpa within Light Regional Council. The properties on this street are rural living properties, and back onto the surrounding vineyard and pastures. Longstanding compliance issues existed for the Neil Avenue on-site wastewater treatment systems, resulting in the potential for discharge of wastewater to the surrounding vineyards. The overflow of wastewater from those properties enters the Greenock Creek catchment.
Project outcomes: It was determined that the best solution for the properties was to connect them to the Barossa Council’s CWMS network, which serves the Nuriootpa township. The technical design carried out by HDS Australia, included survey of existing septic tanks and design of the gravity system to connect into the existing network. This design was optimised to ensure compliance with all relevant codes while minimising the overall gravity trench depth from a construction cost and safety perspective. HDS Australia also prepared the technical specification for the civil works tender.
