HDS Australia has recently completed a series of parking surveys throughout North Adelaide on behalf of Adelaide City Council. Field work was undertaken during February and March 2015, with up to 10 HDS Australia field staff engaged in the study each day.
The surveys studied on-street parking throughout the O’Connell Street and Melbourne Street shopping and restaurant precincts. Manual survey methods were used, with HDS Australia field staff collecting part of the number plate of each parked vehicle. By visiting each parking space regularly throughout the day and matching partial number plates to identify individual vehicles, the parking turnover rates, occupancy rates and the duration of stay of each vehicle was measured. This information will be used by Adelaide City Council to manage on street parking throughout the area.
HDS Australia is well equipped to undertake a wide range of traffic data collection projects, with a large team of experienced field staff available to complete extensive studies. This recent parking study is an example of the larger scale of studies that HDS Australia is equipped to complete, and the specialised nature our traffic data collection services.
