The construction phase of stormwater drainage improvement works has recently been completed in Windsor Avenue and Freeling Crescent in Mitcham, South Australia. HDS Australia undertook stormwater flow calculations and detailed design for this project for the City of Mitcham.
Previously the drainage in these two streets consisted of substandard pipes and bubble pits, with significant volumes of overland land flow occurring during rainfall events. The new drainage works include kerb and channel in the streets and a new underground stormwater piping system. HDS Australia has designed the system to contain a 1 in 5 year rainfall event stormwater flows within the underground drainage system, while the 1 in 100 year rainfall event stormwater flows will be contained within the road reserve.
