On 4 February 2015, Hugh Dixon, Senior Traffic Engineer in HDS Australia's Victorian Office, attended an ITEANZ (Institute Of Transportation Engineers Australia & New Zealand Section) and Engineers Australia, Victorian Transport Panel, Breakfast with the Minister session with The Hon Luke Donnellan MP, Victorian Minister for Roads & Road Safety and Minister for Ports.
The session focused on the plans and project the recently elected State government hopes to implement in Victoria.
One of the main points of interest to Hugh was the intent to set up Infrastructure Victoria as an independent industry advisory body to identify, assess and prioritise infrastructure projects in the state free of political interference. The Minister openly admitted that election promises, such as the grade separation of level crossings would be commenced without review by this new body, but that future works would be going through this process.
Hugh is interested to see when works on the new projects commences, and more importantly the projects are opened. He will also be interested to see the reactions to the publically released deliberations of Infrastructure Victoria.
