The inaugural Smart Water Summit was held in Adelaide on the 22nd and 23rd March 2018. Duncan Howie, Principal Consultant with HDS Australia, attended the summit. The event was co-hosted by the Water Industry Alliance and the International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM).
The event was aimed at bringing together industry professionals from around the world to share experiences and thoughts of what a future water industry may look like. The broad range of speakers included keynote addresses by Dr Fiona Kerr, a neural and systems complexity specialist, who looked at the application of AI in the water industry, Dean Amhaus, CEO of the Milwaukee based Water Council (USA) and Michael Toh, Chief Information Officer of the Public Utilities Board in Singapore. The second day of the summit involved a number of field trip options, aimed at showcasing the smart water infrastructure and some of the world leading techniques and technologies used in and around Adelaide.
