Works to install traffic signals at the intersection of Corrigan Road and Henderson Road in Noble Park have recently been completed. HDS Australia prepared design plans for this project and provided advice during construction. The works were undertaken for the City of Greater Dandenong.
The project was funded under the BlackSpot programme and, as well as undertaking the design, HDS Australia was involved in the preparation of the successful funding application back in 2014. The crash history at this location related to right turns at the intersection. In particular, high traffic volumes on Corrigan Road may have increased the difficulty of finding a safe gap for drivers turning at the intersection, especially during peak hours.
The formerly unsignalised T-junction has now been modified to be under traffic signal control and includes a fully controlled right turn for south bound traffic. The signalisation is expected to enhance driver awareness of the intersection, improve traffic and pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of casualty crashes at this location.
