Grade separation of the Torrens Rail Junction, located in the Park Lands between Port Road and War Memorial Drive, has recently been completed. This project provides productivity gains for the national rail freight network along with road transport, particularly with the grade separation at Park Terrace and Gibson Street.
HDS Australia played an important role in this project, undertaking road safety audits during the design stage, temporary works traffic control and post construction. This project has many elements that required detail review during the road safety audit process, including:
Cyclist and pedestrian safety in the vicinity of arterial roads, low speed local roads, shared paths, railway crossing and the new Bowden Railway Station;
Barrier and energy absorbing bollard details along grade separation elements;
Safe intersection design; and
This project continues HDS Australia’s involvement in many of South Australia’s key infrastructure projects, with ongoing projects including the Northern Connector Project, Darlington Upgrade Project, Lobethal Freight Access Upgrade and Regional Bridges Project.
